To all the die hard fitness fanatics, myself included, the summer months means one thing: longer daylight hours to train! As a businesswoman and athlete I often struggle to fit in training sessions during the winter months, especially my longer runs before or after work.
Sadly in this day and age running alone in the dark as a women can sometimes feel unsafe, but if you have a busy working schedule then this is often the only time you get to train. And long distance running on a treadmill can be tougher mentally than running outside!
Today in the UK (June 21st) is the Summer Solstice, otherwise known as the longest day of the year. Today the sun rose at 4.43am and isn’t expected to set until 9.21pm. This means that in Britain, we will enjoy 16 hours and 38 minutes of daylight!
Not only does sunlight have a huge mental benefit to us all, it also means that we have plenty of opportunity to get outside to exercise before or after work. Vitamin D plus an endorphin rush does wonders for us both physically and mentally; and every piece of BELLUM kit has been rigorously tested by me to ensure it performs technically for you, while also making you look and feel fabulous.
